Sometimes it becomes necessary for a pregnant woman's labor to be induced to protect her health and the health of her unborn child. Doctors may decide to induce labor for a variety of reasons such as the size of the baby, going too far past the baby's due date or when the mother develops a medical condition such as high blood pressure.
