Childbirth Education Classes

Preparing for a new arrival is an exciting time for you and your partner and you naturally may have many questions about childbirth and caring for your newborn. Our childbirth education team is ready to guide you through every step of your childbirth journey and invites you to participate in your choice of several informative courses. Childbirth Preparation Classes

Childbirth educator Donna Gradias makes these classes informative, fun and entertaining as she guides students through the important topics such as breathing techniques, pain management, medication and helpful tips for birth coaches. The class, which also includes a tour of the birthing center and tips on car seat safety, is offered in two formats:

  • 6-week Childbirth Preparation Class

    This class also includes instruction on infant massage. Choose from the following days and come that day for six weeks. 

    Available Dates: January 28 or 29, May 5 or 6,  June 16 or 17, August 4 or 5, September 22 or 23, November 10 or 11
    Time:   6 p.m. to 9 p.m. 
    Cost:   $40 per couple

  • One-day Childbirth Preparation Class

    Couples are advised to register early for this intensive, fast-paced class. It fills up early! Classes are held once a month on Saturday. 

    Available Dates: January 25, February 8, March 14, April 4, May 30, June 27, July 11, August 15, September 5, October 24, November 14, December 5
    Times: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
    Cost:   $40 per couple

Breastfeeding Class 

Designed to be taken before the baby is born, this two-hour class covers the techniques of successful breastfeeding. The course is taught by a professional lactation consultant who can address any questions or concerns that prospective mothers may have. Classes are held once or twice a month on Wednesday. 

Available Dates: January 8 or 22, February 5 or 19, March 4 or 18, April 1 or 15, May 6 or 20, June 3 or 17, June 3 or 17, July 8 and 22, August 12 or 19, September 2 or 16, October 7 or 21, November 4 or 11, December 2 or 16
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Cost:   $10 per couple

Sibling Class

Parents, be sure to bring your cameras for this one! Siblings ages 3 to 12 will don surgical caps and booties for this fun class where they'll learn all about being a big brother or sister and the big changes that are coming their way. They'll take a tour, watch a video and even practice holding a baby (with a baby doll, of course!). At least one parent must attend with the child, and dinner is provided for the child. Classes are held every other month on Thursday evening. 

Available Dates: ​February 13, June 4, August 6, October 15, December 17
Times: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 
Cost:   $10 per child, each additional sibling is $5

Newborn Care Class

How do you bathe a slippery baby? What in the world is swaddling? Answers to these mysteries and many other baby basics are covered in this lighthearted yet highly informative class that concludes with a diaper-changing contest. Classes are held once a month on Monday evenings.

Available Dates: January 13, February 24, March 30, April 6, May 18, June 8, July 20, August 24, September 28, October 5, November 16, December 7
Times: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. 
Cost:   $10 per couple
