Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is an extremely useful tool our doctors use to make an accurate diagnosis and develop an appropriate treatment plan for their patients. Unlike x-rays that use low doses of radiation, MRIs use a powerful magnet and radio frequency waves to generate images of a patient’s internal organs and structures. This painless procedure is one of the least invasive tests available today that enable doctors to see inside a patient’s body.

MRIs are not for everyone, however, so please be sure to notify your doctor if you are claustrophobic, have a pacemaker, defibrillator, aneurysm clips in your brain, a shunt with telesensor inner ear implants (cochlear), metal fragments in one or both eyes, implanted spinal cord stimulators, metal pins or other metal implants or if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.

Yuma Regional Medical Center offers MRI scans at the following locations:

  • Yuma Regional Medical Center Outpatient Diagnostic Imaging Center
  • Yuma Regional Medical Center Foothills Imaging Center

If you have any questions about MRIs, please call 928-336-2603.
